Great companies are born out of great passions. Nolan® has always meant “passion for Two Wheels”. The history of Nolan® began in 1972 when Lander Nocchi, an entrepreneur in the motorbike and car accessories sector, decided to produce motorcycle helmets that could be lighter and more affordable than those on the market at the time. He purchased, from a company in the United States, an innovative plastic material, Lexan®, which was light and versatile, and started producing polycarbonate helmets. In the following 37 years, other important ideas have been put into production, and they proved to be well known and highly valued products by thousands of customers in more than 70 countries around the globe.

The two biggest assets of the Company are its unique technical and production skills and its strive for innovation. This combination brought Nolan to success and the Company now offers a wide range of products, designed for any kind of rider and able to meet the needs of the most demanding customers. Over time, Nolan® has been raising the performance level of its products, ensuring at the same time they would comply with the strictest production regulations and using state-of-the-art materials.
X-lite® came into being in 1998. A new brand for a second Company and also a real challenge, since the Nolan Group pushed the boundaries of its own experience and know-how, and moved into the composite materials sector. In the new special plant for the exclusive production of composite fibre helmets, the most advanced industrial technology goes hand in hand with craftsman’s care and skills, which are typically associated with the processing of composite materials. The Nolan Group is synonymous of technology, safety, and design, also striving to achieve the best quality/price ratio: Grex® is the proof. The brand was conceived in 1993 and has been appreciated from the start for the quality of its products combined with their affordable prices. In the following years, the continuous pursuit for innovative solutions led the Nolan Group to designing a dedicated communication system for its helmets. N-Com® marketing starts in 2005: A full range of electronic components, also available with Bluetooth wireless technology. Nolan®, X-lite®, Grex® and N-Com® are the four facets of the Nolan Group.
Design
The conception of new models with more and more sophisticated designs, along with proper management of the development and design processes, are the most essential and sensitive aspects in the activities of the Nolan Group.

For this reason, in our Research and Development division, the traditional hand moulding techniques, which are still in use, are accompanied by more advanced computeraided design techniques, used to improve the various steps within a project, beginning with the preliminary stages, subject to the Company’s marketing strategy, through design and engineering, to the manufacturing process.

All this is coordinated by qualified staff, mostly trained within the Company, whose task is to devise products that stand out; innovation, practicality and high-tech features guaranteeing to provide sublime comfort and a perfect fit.
