MotoGP News | Pre Race Report – Assen, Netherlands

BOOM ! Its Race time folks, and I can guarantee you this one will be an absolute show stopper. Assen always provides a good race, you could potentially race horses around it and you will draw a crowd, really I’m not kidding! The resurfaced track done in 2006 is not particularly demanding on the tyres, so soft and medium compounds should be the order of the day.

The talk the last couple of weeks has been the bogus instance where Lorenzo has 140 points is the first 6 rounds…..Exactly what he had after the first 6 rounds in 2010, also the year he won the World MotoGP Championship. Personally I feel Lorenzo will take the 2012 title, I just don’t feel Stoner has it this year. Lorenzo also has 4 wins in hand, that’s double what Stoner has. Question is when will Dani Pedrosa win?, we know he needs to, British rider Cal Crutchlow is also pushing hard.

For this weekends racing, Ducati is positive for a good result as both Rossi and Hayden like the track, Rossi actually had a 4th with what is said a worse handing Ducati than the 2012 version with the new Aluminum assembly. The Factory Yamaha team will be positive, Lorenzo and Ben Spies have good reason to be positive, Spies took his first MotoGP victory at Assen last year…
Tech3 Monster Yamaha will as always also feature; Andrea Dovizioso had a podium finish on his Honda in 2011. A well rested and better looking Crutchlow had a bit of trouble last year BUT we know the Brit WILL NOT be put off!  What’s cooking in the Honda camp, well they have Golden Boy Stoner, and he will be on the podium, hell I think he will most probably be on POLE POSITION.

Here is what Stoner had to say at the latest Press conference:

“We’ve had a tough few races, things haven’t gone really to plan and we’ve given it everything we have, but we didn’t really get the results we wanted. In general we can’t really complain, we’ve still be on the podium, we’ve still been getting good points, except for one. It makes things tough for this second part of the season; we just need to pick up our performances a bit and get a bit more comfortable with the bike.”

Predictions for this weekends RACE at Assen Holland? I would say Lorenzo, Stoner, Spies, Pedrosa, then well a mix, of Pedrosa, Dovizioso, Rossi, Hayden, Bautista and the rest. Look I will be happy to see another close race But it will be good !

::Moto2::

Ok so for about 80% of the 2012 season we have been talking action and DRAMA in the Moto2 class. Yet again I can start the intro of this week’s race report with DRAMA! The FIM International Disciplinary Court (CDI), rejected Pons 40 HP Tuenti’s appeal against the overturned penalty for Marc Márquez in the Catalunya Moto2 race in Spain.  I still feel Márquez was at fault, I just think it will be a great race if we have Redding, Márquez, Luthi, Iannone and Espargaro in a close battle, it will be race of the season!

We know that Pons 40 HP rider Pol Espargaro will be strong; I can believe he is furious about the turn down of the appeal against the Márquez docking issue and will be out to prove a point. Redding had a fantastic round 6 in Spain and is more motivated than ever before. Thomas Luthi would most certainly like to clinch the second spot as he is currently tied with Espargaro for second. Again the Moto2 will not disappoint us so be sure you watch the race Sunday!

That’s me for now guys, till next time!
