Road Tyres:
On the extreme end of this spectrum there are the fat, smooth, slick tyres for sportbikes capable of more than 200km. These ensure maximum rubber on the surface of the road or track and have only the smallest threads to funnel away small amounts of water that may be present on the surface of the road. Track tyres are made of a softer compound than their road counterparts.
Sport touring tyres have more amounts of wider, deeper threads. The maximum load rating is higher and the compound is harder.
To cope with the larger size of the motorbike, Cruiser tyres have a higher maximum load rating.
Off Road Tyre:
Off road tyres vary. The more aggressive the tyre looks (big separate blocks of rubber) the more suited it is to very rough conditions. On hard surfaces however it offers poor performance due to the fact that only small amount of rubber come into contact with the road surface. They are noisy and due to the increase in road friction they affect the top end speed.
The more closely packed the blocks of rubber are, the more suited it is for sand and gravel. The wider and bigger the tread between the blocks of rubber, the more suited it is to thick muddy conditions.
Enduro (trail) Tyres:
To ensure more rubber on the road, enduro tyres have large closely packed flat blocks of rubber. They offer reasonable performance on road and off road. They are not very noisy and the rubber compound is not too soft.
